Komodo National Park is reached by boat only — no car, jeep or 4×4 drives to Rinca, Padar or Komodo Island. What a car does cover is the land side of your boat day: hotel to the marina or harbour before departure, pickup when your day trip or liveaboard comes back in, waiting blocks while you are at sea, and the connection straight into a Flores overland leg. This page sets out which legs we run and indicative USD pricing per transfer or block, as of 2026.
Can you drive to Komodo National Park from Labuan Bajo?
No. The park is an island group in the Flores Sea with no road, bridge or car ferry to Rinca, Padar or Komodo Island. Every visitor arrives by boat from Labuan Bajo — speedboat day trip, wooden phinisi, or liveaboard. Any page advertising a “car tour to Komodo National Park” is not being straight with you.
The honest scope of a car is the land side of the same day — a short drive, since most Labuan Bajo hotels sit five to twenty minutes from the jetties. Short does not mean simple: pre-dawn departures, luggage bound for the boat, returns after dark and a hard cut-off at the jetty are what make these legs worth booking properly.
Which car legs do we actually cover?
Pre-departure: hotel or airport to the marina or harbour
We build the pickup time backwards from the boarding time your boat operator gives you, not from a generic slot, and we confirm which jetty you are actually leaving from — the main public harbour, a waterfront marina berth, or one of the smaller beach jetties used by some charter boats. They are not the same place, and a wrong drop costs you the departure. Landing at Komodo Airport and boarding the same day? We run airport straight to jetty.
Post-trip: harbour pickup after day trips and liveaboards
Return times slip: sunset stops run long, and a boat due at 17:00 can tie up well after dark. Our harbour pickups are timed to the boat rather than the clock: the driver stays reachable on WhatsApp, waits at the agreed point, and moves if the berth changes. After a liveaboard this is often the leg that matters most — you come off with wet gear and no appetite for negotiating a ride on the quay.
Waiting blocks and standby
Some guests want the same vehicle held all day — bags locked in the car while you are on the water, a driver ready when you step ashore. That is booked as a waiting block (a fixed number of standby hours) rather than two transfers, and it suits groups that split between boat and land.
Luggage, dive gear and awkward loads
Dive kit, drone cases and full liveaboard luggage do not fit a small sedan carrying four people. We size the vehicle to the load, not just the headcount, and a Toyota Hiace for gear-heavy group runs is the usual answer for dive groups and families of five or more. Tell us the number of oversized cases when you enquire.
Straight into a Flores overland leg
Plenty of guests step off the boat and keep going east — Ruteng, Bajawa, Ende, Kelimutu, or the trailhead road for Wae Rebo. We can meet the boat and roll directly into a multi-day Flores overland car rental with the same driver. The reverse works too: the overland leg ends at the jetty, in time for boarding.
Who handles the boat side?
We do not operate boats or sell park tickets, and we will not pretend otherwise. Komodo National Park entrance, conservation and ranger charges are normally arranged by the boat or liveaboard operator you sail with, and they are the right people to ask about current rates and inclusions. If you have not booked a boat yet, we can hand you across to the boat side of our own group — Komodo Luxury, which operates phinisi and liveaboard charters from Labuan Bajo — or simply coordinate our land timings with the operator you already chose. Car legs and boat legs are always quoted separately.
How do you book a Komodo park car leg?
- Send the boat details. WhatsApp your date, boat or operator name, boarding time, jetty if known, and your hotel.
- We scope the leg. We confirm the jetty, propose a pickup time built backwards from boarding, and size the vehicle to passengers plus gear.
- You get a written quote. One message, in USD, each leg or block listed separately — no verbal-only pricing.
- Confirm and travel. Driver contact is shared the day before; on return day we track your boat’s actual arrival and adjust live.

What does a Komodo National Park car transfer cost?
Pricing is quote-based. The figures below are indicative starting points in USD as of 2026; final price depends on vehicle class, passenger and luggage load, distance from your hotel, and timing — pre-dawn and late-night legs cost more. You receive the exact figure in writing before committing.
| Land leg | Indicative from (USD) |
|---|---|
| Hotel to marina or harbour, one way (town area) | from USD 10 per transfer |
| Komodo Airport direct to jetty, one way | from USD 12 per transfer |
| Harbour pickup with meet and luggage assist | from USD 15 per transfer |
| Waiting block, car and driver on standby (per 4 hours) | from USD 25 per block |
| Hiace-class group jetty transfer, gear included | from USD 30 per transfer |
| Boat arrival connecting into a Flores overland leg | quoted per itinerary |
These are land-transport figures only. Park entrance, ranger and conservation fees and the boat charter itself sit with your boat operator.
Common questions
My liveaboard returns at an unknown time — can you still pick me up?
Yes, and that is the normal case. We hold the slot against your boat rather than a fixed clock time and adjust when the captain gives a firmer ETA. Open-ended arrivals are best booked as a waiting block.
Can you store our luggage while we are on the day trip?
Only within a booked waiting block, where the vehicle stays with your bags for the agreed hours. We do not run a separate left-luggage service or take responsibility for bags in an unattended car.
Do you sell Komodo National Park tickets or boat trips?
No. We are a land-transport operator. Park fees go through your boat operator, and if you still need a boat we can introduce you to Komodo Luxury.
Book your Komodo park car legs
Car Rental Labuan Bajo is operated under Komodo Luxury, part of Juara Holding Group — operating from Bali across Indonesia since 2015 — so your land legs and the boat side of the trip are coordinated from the same schedule.
